Share Cellular Connection via Ethernet
=======================================

This guide explains how to share the cellular Internet connection through the Ethernet port on the **Edge IoT Gateway XS**.

.. important::

   If you are connected to the Gateway over Ethernet, paste and execute all four commands together.
   Once the Gateway starts its own DHCP server, the current Ethernet connection may be lost.

Configure Cellular and Ethernet Connections
-----------------------------------------------

Run the following commands:

   sudo nmcli connection add type gsm ifname cdc-wdm0 con-name cellular apn internet
   sudo nmcli connection up cellular
   sudo nmcli connection add type ethernet ifname eth0 con-name lan-share ipv4.method shared ipv4.addresses 10.42.0.1/24
   sudo nmcli connection up lan-share

After the configuration is complete, the Gateway will use the cellular connection as the Internet uplink and share it through the Ethernet port.

Verify the Configuration
----------------------------

Check whether both connections are active:

.. code-block:: bash

   nmcli connection show --active

You should see both ``cellular`` and ``lan-share`` listed as active connections.

You can also check the network interface status:

.. code-block:: bash

   nmcli device status

The ``lan-share`` connection should be assigned to the ``eth0`` interface.

Finally, connect a device to the Gateway Ethernet port and verify that it receives an IP address automatically and has Internet access through the Gateway's cellular connection.
